Speed Kills: Advocate Nina Rivet say van Dongen must resign as BC's Top Cop
The news of van Dongen’s excessive speeding charges shocked anti-speeding activist Nina Rivet, a
"I was floored," an emotional Rivet said.
"I sat across from this man a month ago to talk about fighting street racing. I really thought he would be one of the politicians who meant what he said. It's hypocritical."
Rivet works in the campaign office of Surrey-Whalley NDP MLA Bruce Ralston.
Ralston said the minister should do more than reassign his vehicle-safety duties.
"He's been on platforms talking about the dangers of speeding," Ralston said.
"He should resign."
NDP Leader Carole James agreed, saying Liberal Leader Gordon Campbell should step in and remove van Dongen from his position.
